Yellowknife

Yellowknife map
(PS: The red box is Yellowknife)
Yellowknife is the largest city and the capital city of the Northwest Territories. it is located on the north shore of Great Slave Lake around 400km south of the Arctic Circle (62° 27' N /114° 21' W). The city has a population of 18,700 and it is 136 km2 in area so that means the population density is 177.7/km2. There aren't any major landforms in Yellowknife but there are many lakes, rivers, etc.

Cityscape of Yellowknife

Very Cold!
The climate in Yellowknife or almost anywhere in the NWT is usually very cold and dry with summers not getting above 25°C (77°F) and winters getting down to -40°C (-40°F), although the summers are very sunny. Yellowknife is located in the Taiga Shield ecozone which can reflect some of the temperatures found there because it is so far north. Yellowknife is also located closest to the Nahanni National Park. Yellowknife's main businesses are mining and believe it or not trucking. Mining is such a big business in Yellowknife and all around it because of the high amount of gold that can be found in the area. there are also traces of copper, tungsten, and even uranium that may be found. Trucking is also a very large industry because the roads, especially during the winter, can become very icy and dangerous for the average "trucker" to deliver goods on. Yellowknife's main source of tourism comes from the Wildcat Cafe ,which is now considered a heritage site, and the surprisingly high amount of very nice, state-of-the-art buildings that are located in and around Yellowknife. From the huge multiplex which houses twin-pad area, a gymnastics club, a gymnasium, etc. Yellowknife is a fairly wealthy city.

Sudbury... On a map!
The climate in Sudbury has a relatively moderate temperature with dry, humid and hot summers with cold and snowy winters. The fall and spring seasons are normal, cool and cloudy. Sudbury is located in the Boreal Shield ecozone roughly 400 km southeast of Pukaskwa National Park. The main industries found in Sudbury will be based on mining and sometimes lumber industries can be found just past the outskirts of the city. Majority of the tourism found in Sudbury is from the Science North, an interactive science museum built atop an ancient earthquake fault on the shore of Lake Ramsey, Dynamic Earth, home of Sudbury's famous "Big Nickel", and lastly the Inco Superstack which is the highest freestanding  chimney in the western hemisphere and the second tallest structure in Canada after the CN Tower.

Stratford, Ontario is located in the Mixed Wood Plains ecozone. Stratford is nowhere near any National Parks in fact, the closest Provincial Park to Stratford is over 600km away. The industries found in Stratford are mainly companies that produce a variety of products like automotive parts, aerospace components, precision bearings, industrial machinery, and carpets. Most of the tourism in Stratford comes from the famous Shakespeare Festival, a huge gathering of over 600,000 people where many plays are shown and many of the restaurants are serving very high quality and high priced foods.

Halifax

Halifax, Nova Scotia
Halifax, Nova Scotia is located on the east coast of Canada (44° 39' 0" N / 63° 36' 0" W).   Halifax Regional Municipality has a relatively small population of 398,037 in such an astonishingly large area of 5,577 square kilometers. Of that population 282,924 live in the urban area or "city" or Halifax. Therefore the population density of the urban area is 1,077.2/km2. However the regional municipalities population density is 67.9/km2. In the 1990s, the city of Halifax was amalgamated with other communities into the Halifax Regional Municipality. Halifax only has 2 landforms, the Halifax Peninsula and the Halifax Harbor. The Halifax Peninsula is a community and planning area located in the urban core of Halifax Regional Municipality. Halifax Peninsula is where Downtown Halifax is located, the financial and economic heart of the region, which was also where settlement to the area and the town of Halifax originated. It is also where the majority of the area of Nova Scotia's Capital Disctrict is located.

Since Nova Scotia is located on the east coast of Canada it is surrounded by water which has a big impact on the climate, especially Halifax which is the most eastern region in Nova Scotia. Surprisingly, Nova Scotia is the warmest province in Canada, mostly due to the effect of the ocean.  Winter in Halifax is less cold than other areas of Nova Scotia, however summer is slightly colder than areas more inland in the province.  The weather can be unpredictable, e.g., snow storms turning into rain and/or warm spring weather followed by another snow storm. Halifax is located in the Atlantic Maritime Ecozone.

Halifax Citadel National Historic Site of Canada
So what is is like to work in Halifax?  Halifax has many major industries including agriculture, fishing, mining, forestry and natural gas extraction, clay, shale, gold, limestone, and gypsum extraction.  Also it is a major port and hub for transportation of goods all over North America.  There are sea ports as well as railways that lead inland to Canada and to the United States. Many tourists visit Halifax and other beautiful areas in Nova Scotia.  Tourists are quite attracted to the buildings and parklands at the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site of Canada.  The Halifax Citadel has been recognized as a "nationally significant symbol" as it was a naval station in the British Empire.  Its is also a symbol of Canada's development and evolution from a British colony to a stand-alone nation when it was made a national historic site in 1951.
